Tyson Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, has outlined an exciting three-fight roadmap for the heavyweight champion, suggesting that 2026 could see Fury return to the ring not once, but three times.
After a brief hiatus during which he announced his retirement following two losses to Oleksandr Usyk, Fury has now decisively confirmed his willingness to step back into boxing this year. This marks a significant shift as he prepares for what he describes as a pivotal comeback year.
Currently training in Thailand, Fury is dedicated to getting back into peak physical condition, setting the stage for a series of anticipated bouts. In recent months, speculation has swirled around potential matchups, including a trilogy fight against Usyk and a clash with his longtime rival, Anthony Joshua. Additionally, he has opened the possibility of fighting Fabio Wardley, the new WBO heavyweight world champion.
However, before facing these notable opponents, it is expected that Fury will engage in a tune-up fight against a less formidable opponent to shake off the rust and regain his competitive edge. This preliminary battle could be the first of his three planned fights in 2026.
Speaking to iFL TV, Brown mentioned, "I told everyone he will come back; he is back loving boxing again. He’s taken a year off, but we are maybe looking at three fights for him this year. He’s currently in Thailand, gearing up for his return." This year could potentially be one of Fury’s busiest since his original comeback in 2018, when he ended a three-year hiatus after defeating Wladimir Klitschko.
While Fury has not yet finalized his next opponent, it is anticipated that he will aim to return sometime in the early months of 2026. Given his goal of regaining fighting fitness, it is unlikely that he will face a top-ranked contender right away.
One notable name frequently mentioned as a potential opponent is Arslanbek Makhmudov, a towering fighter standing at 6 feet 6 inches who recently secured a victory over Dave Allen. Tyson’s promoter, Frank Warren, has confirmed that there is genuine interest in making a fight with Makhmudov happen.
Brown added, "Tyson is willing to fight anyone, including Fabio Wardley. However, let’s be realistic—he’s been out for a year and needs to get back into the rhythm of fighting first. I’d personally love to see him have his comeback fight in Manchester, marking a homecoming, and then pursue a few more fights thereafter. Makhmudov is certainly one of the names in contention, and he’s among the frontrunners."
But here's where it gets controversial: Can Fury truly reclaim his former glory after such a long break? What do you think about his chances against Makhmudov or any other potential opponents? Are you excited to see how this all unfolds? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
